About Reiki: Usui Shiki Ryoho
The Usui System of Natural Healing
What Does "Reiki" Mean?

Rei -- the universal, boundless aspect of energy;
Ki -- the lifeforce itself
(ch'i, prana, mana, the holy spirit)
Spirit-directed Lifeforce
History
Older than any written account, Reiki is a sacred
energy transmission rooted in Tibetan Buddhism which dates back
more than 2,500 years. Reiki was rediscovered in the late 1800s
by a man named Dr. Mikeo Usui. Most accounts recognize Dr. Usui
as the dean of a small Christian seminary in Kyoto, Japan, who dedicated
his life to discovering how Jesus and Buddha healed others merely
by touch. Usui's 28-year quest culminated in a pilgrimage to the
top of Japan's Mount Kuryama for a 21-day fast and meditation. He
sat inside a circle of 21 stones, casting one aside to mark the
passing of each day. On the 21st day, a bolt of bright white light
reached down from the sky hitting his third eye and encompassing
him. Within this light he saw thousands of little bubbles of color
and within the bubbles were symbols. He understood that a sacred
transmission had taken place, his own personal initiation. He received
the knowing of how the system worked and was asked to ensure that
it wouldn't be lost again. He knew he had received what he had been
searching for and dedicated himself to sharing the knowledge and
empowerment with humanity.
What makes Reiki different from other methods of
energy healing?
- The Attunement/Initiation and 21-day clearing
process
- The Symbols
- The Principles/Precepts
- The Lineage
- The Reiki Energy itself does the work, the
practitioner is merely the channel. In this sense, it is the simplest
healing method known.
Principles of Reiki
Just for today, I will not anger (I will heal
my anger)
Just for today, I will not worry (I will
release my worry)
I will honor my parents, teachers and elders.
I will earn my living honestly.
I will show gratitude to every living thing.
Reiki Precepts
Healing is characterized by a shift in consciousness
and an exchange of energy.

Reiki works on all four levels of our being.
Physical: the body, manifested pain, illness and dis-ease. Mental:
limiting belief systems and thought patterns, judgments. Emotional:
Feelings and desires. Spiritual: Love, compassion, unity consciousness.
Reiki treats the cause rather than the symptom
or effect.
Reiki accelerates the healing process which
may cause initial discomfort; appears as if things are getting worse.
This is because the healing happens at a faster rate.
You may experience intense heat, deep peace,
relaxation, pure love, colors or old emotions or memories resurfacing.
You may laugh, cry, yawn, shake, twitch or sleep as the energy flows
through your body.
Becoming a Reiki Channel
Becoming a Reiki channel in some respects is
similar to a 3-way light bulb: with each attunement you hold a higher
"wattage" or "charge" of power. At each level, the amount of energy
that comes through you is squared.
Level One: Healing the Self
Learn the basics of energy and the history of
the Usui System. Do healing work with your physical, emotional,
spiritual and mental bodies and meet the Grand Masters of Reiki
-- Dr. Mikeo Usui, Master Chujiro Hayashi, Master Hawayo Takata
-- and receive energy work and guidance from each about your life,
and your own unique path with Reiki. Awaken more fully to your purpose,
your service work in this lifetime. Learn hand positions, table
treatments, self-treatments, the chakra system, The Reiki Boost
and Quick Treatment, energetic protection, how to use Reiki for
the highest good in everyday life and more. Receive your first Initiation,
an energetic process that elevates your personal frequency and opens
you as a channel to the divine energy known as Reiki. This process
begins a 21-day clearing process of the seven major chakras resulting
in more Higher Self awareness and a discovery of and commitment
to your own world service. Participants receive a Certificate as
a Usui System Reiki Level I Practitioner at the completion of this
course.
Level Two:
Learn three of the five traditional Usui symbols:
The Power Key, The Absentee Healing Key and The Emotional Purification
Key. Learn how to contact another person's Higher Self for permission
to do healing work. Learn how to use the symbols for distance healing
work and table treatments. Do healing work with past life patterns
and connect with a guide who will work with you during your healing
work. Learn how to release energetically draining relationships
from your field and how to build a bridge of light for beings in
transition who may be in confusion. The Level II Initiation squares
the amount of energy available to you at Level I and is a quantum
leap in awareness and intuitiveness. Your hands are fully attuned
and you begin another 21-day clearing process of the chakras. Participants
receive a Certificate as a Reiki Level II Practitioner in the Usui
System of Natural Healing at the completion of this course.
Level Three: Master Practitioner
As a Master you are completely opened to the
Reiki Ray. The energy channeled through you is again squared from
Level II. Learn three sacred sounds from Tibetan Buddhism for purification
of speech, the physical body and heart/mind. Journey to the Temple
of the Masters for your Initiation into your World Service. You'll
learn to work with the Master Symbols, energy flows from the higher
dimensions, and participate in the Water Ceremony. Learn the Breath
of the Dragon, which utilizes the microcosmic orbit and the Reiki
colors to change the molecular vibration of water and food. You
begin another 21-day clearing process of the seven major chakras.
A commitment to service. Participants receive a Certificate as a
Reiki Master Practitioner in the Usui System of Natural Healing
at the completion of this course.
Master Teacher: World Service
Teaching and attuning others to Reiki. A very
special path for those who are called to serve.
